Conductor and violinist Janna Sailor is firmly established as a musician and musical educator of extraordinary scope and versatility. She began her musical studies at the age of three and performing with professional orchestras at the age of thirteen.
Janna holds the position of Assistant Conductor with both the National Academy Orchestra of Canada the Vancouver Philharmonic Orchestra and currently conducts the Vancouver Youth Symphony Debut Orchestra and will assume the roles of As a conductor, Janna has directed numerous ensembles ranging from choirs, new music ensembles and youth orchestras.
As a violinist, Janna co-founder Cordei Contemporary Harp and Violin Duo in 2012, an innovative and award winning ensemble dedicated to the commissioning and promotion of Canadian music. In addition to traditional concerts, Cordei collaborates with film, dance and visual artists and can be heard at new music festivals and concerts across Canada.
Janna enjoys a diverse career as an orchestral a freelance violinist, performing with the Vancouver Opera Orchestra, Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra, Tafelmusik, and serving as concertmaster with both the Montreal based l’Orchestré de la Francophonie (2011) and the National Academy Orchestra of Canada (2014). She has also performed alongside artists such as Barbra Streisand, Michael Buble, Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey, Kenny G, Mary J. Blige, Chris Botti, The Canadian Tenors, Il Volo, Frank Sinatra Jr., Mary Margaret O’Hara, Carly Rae Jepsen and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. She has performed for heads of state including Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan on their visit to Vancouver in 2009, the Korean Consulate, and members of the Senate of Canada. Janna’s performance schedule has taken her across North America, Italy, Great Britain, China, Tibet, and Russia.
